Up for sale is an old Pottsingerton cowboy saddle. These saddles were hand made in the 1950's out of Amarillo, TX. They were built to last unlike the cheap "assembly line" saddles you see a lot of today.
It has a 6 1/2 gullet. 14" seat (I had a friend that weighs 235 ride in this saddle just fine even with a 14" seat by the way it is made). Wooden Oxbow stirrups. No straps come with it. I have cleaned and oiled it, but buyer may want to oil to their liking. There are some tears, scratches, places where the leather is gone. Should be able to see them in the pictures. I can also email more pics too. 1 fender is not original. Has a strap for your lariet. Initials of CRD on back of cantle. Pottsingerton maker stamp is on the seat and behind the cantle. Sheep skin wool is getting worn and should be replaced, but I have used it as is with a real good saddle pad.
It has big swells to keep you in the saddle if you are training and ones goes to bucking with you. Tree is solid and good. Rawhide cover wooden tree.
I bought this saddle just to use on young horses to get them saddle broke, but I am not doing that anymore. I am sending mine to someone to do it for me. I don't need it any more. It is also a collectors saddle. If someone wants to use it as an antique piece in their home, use it to break horses with so your more expensive saddles do not get torn up, or have it redone by a saddle maker. Your choice.
I will ship if buyer pays for shipping and insurance. Can go through Paypal for both seller/buyer safety. Price is a little negt. |
