About Wild Cow Milking

In a Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) ranch rodeo contestants compete in teams representing ranches, not as individuals as in a "regular" rodeo. In the wild cow milking event one team member is mounted while three other team members are on foot. After a cow is turned into the arena the mounted team member must first rope the cow, then the other team members must get the cow under control and milk a small amount of milk into a bottle. One team member runs with the bottle to a designated area of the arena, where a judge verifies there was actually milk in the bottle. The team that milks their cow in the fastest time is the winner.
