Saddle Chairs - Good Things To Know Before You Buy

Like we said above a saddle chair is a type of office chair. Unlike most office chairs where the user sits flat on their buttocks with their legs straight in front of them, a saddle chair seats the user in a straddled position, similar to sitting in a saddle. They come on both solid and split-seat designs, and with our without a back.

There are claimed to be numerous health benefits to using a saddle chair instead of a "regular" office chair, including improved posture; less tension in the back and neck; strengthening of the buttock, back and core muscles; increased circulation in the legs; less stress on knee and hip joints; an overall increase in comfort; less fatigue from sitting; and more. In addition, a person using a saddle chair doesn't have to lower or raise themselves as much as when using a typical chair, and often say that sitting down and getting up is noticeably easier.

It should be mentioned that a saddle chair seats a person in a higher position than a typical office chair so it's likely that the desk they use will need to be raised. This can be accomplished by using a product such as Raise Its.
