Western Dish Savvy
When buying Western dishes off of eBay or anywhere, there are several things you'll want to know before you bid or buy. Read the checklist below to avoid surprises when your purchase arrives.
- Are the dishes single pieces or are they a set?
- Are the dishes new or used? If they're used, are they chipped, cracked, stained, or faded?
- If you are buying a dinnerware set, read the description carefully to know exactly what pattern is on what dishes. It is not uncommon, for example, for mugs or cups to have different patterns than plates or bowls. Make sure you understand what you will be getting.
- Are they dishwasher safe? You may not care, but if you do want dishwasher safe Western dishes you'll want to make sure the dishes you're looking at are what you want.
- Are they microwave safe? Again, you may not care but if you do want microwave safe Western dishes you'll want to make sure the dishes you're looking at are what you want.
- Is shipping insurance offered? Remember, some (but not all) Western dishes will be fragile to ship. If so, you may want to consider shipping insurance.
- How much will the shipping be?
- Every eBay item for sale has a "Seller info" area. Be sure to check this area to view the feedback rating that previous buyers have left for that particular seller. There is also an area where a potential buyer can read comments left by previous buyers.
- If you have any questions be sure to ask the seller before you bid. Look for the "Ask a question" link in the "Questions and answers about this item" area to ask your questions.
